چکیده
Abstract We present a phylogenetic analysis using plastid (matK, rbcL) and nuclear (nrITS) DNA for diverse Euploca spp. (formerly Heliotropium section Orthostachys) from the worldwide distribution of genus including species encompassing wide physiological morphological diversity genus. Our results indicate that some remarkably complex features arose multiple times in parallel Euploca, attributes its subsections under Orthostachys, notably plants that, above ground, consist almost entirely inflorescences. To elucidate greater detail C4 s.s., we made > 800 δ 13C determinations, traditional Tournefortia. greatly increase number proven but found none outside Euploca. Of tested spp., c. 28% are C3 or intermediate carbon fixation pathway. four parallel/convergent acquisitions photosynthesis fewer origins with subsequent loss species.

Four enzymes, namely, the maize C(4)-specific phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC), the maize C(4)-specific pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase (PPDK), the sorghum NADP-malate dehydrogenase (MDH), and the rice C(3)-specific NADP-malic enzyme (ME), were overproduced in the mesophyll cells of rice plants independently or in combination. Overproduction individually of PPDK, MDH or ME did not affec...

Sponge classification has long been based mainly on morphocladistic analyses but is now being greatly challenged by more than 12 years of accumulated analyses of molecular data analyses. The current study used phylogenetic hypotheses based on sequence data from 18S rRNA, 28S rRNA, and the CO1 barcoding fragment, combined with morphology to justify the resurrection of the order Axinellida Lévi, ...

In plants, an oligogene family encodes NADP-malic enzymes (NADP-me), which are responsible for various functions and exhibit different kinetics and expression patterns. In particular, a chloroplast isoform of NADP-me plays a key role in one of the three biochemical subtypes of C(4) photosynthesis, an adaptation to warm environments that evolved several times independently during angiosperm dive...

The majority of terrestrial plants, including many important crops such as rice, wheat, soybean, and potato, are classified as C(3) plants that assimilate atmospheric CO(2) directly through the C(3) photosynthetic pathway. C(4) plants, such as maize and sugarcane, evolved from C(3) plants, acquiring the C(4) photosynthetic pathway in addition to the C(3) pathway to achieve high photosynthetic p...
